Resources

Thanks to the advancements in technology, we have access to art and music almost everywhere we go. Sure, physical art is still mostly restricted to museums and other installations, but the digital world has opened up a whole new world for art, music, and art appreciation. Here are some of our favorite apps and websites:

Magnus

An app that’s available for both Apple and Android, Magnus helps you track down art you’ve seen and want to know more about. Take a pic of the art using the app, and it will check its already large, and still growing database to see the title, artist, and if its price if it’s for sale. Great for people who want to know more about modern art pieces, whether they’re buyers or not.

Spotify

Whether you’re looking for music, stand-up comedy, or spoken word, Spotify probably has what you’re looking for. A lot of people are too focused on the songs they already know and new stuff by popular artists, that they miss out on the lesser known, but no less talented artists who have made their work available on the platform. It’s also a great platform to find more songs from artists you want to know more about.

Louvre Virtual Tours

Probably the most famous museum in the world, the Louvre has expanded its profile to include virtual tours. While not exactly a full virtual reality experience that lets you explore a virtual version of the museum, they do offer online video tours of specific exhibits. Perfect for getting your international art fix, or as an educational tool you can use with your kids.

Guggenheim Collection Online

Home to one of the largest (and still expanding) collections of Impressionist, Post-Modern, Contemporary, and Post-Impressionist art, the Guggenheim is a dream destination for many modern artists. Unfortunately, we can’t all visit ourselves. The Guggenheim Collection Online, however, gives everybody a chance to admire vast collection all the Guggenheim museums have to offer.
